Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill

Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill is a workplace travel program of York Region, in partnership with the Cities of Markham and Richmond Hill. We operate as a Transportation Management Association managed by the Markham and Richmond Hill Boards of Trade.

 

We connect Markham and Richmond Hill workplace employees with sustainable commute options that meet their needs. In collaboration with employers, local municipalities, and partners, we deliver innovative, cost efficient Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategies that contribute to employer business and sustainability goals and local policy priorities.

 

We are a group of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) professionals, aims to provide our expert advise with custom programs and TDM tools to commuters who is going from A to B – be it a work commute, a school drop-off, or running errands – explore and try out smart travel options such as walking, cycling, transit and carpooling.

 

Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill is a community travel program of York Region that has shown great success throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), where employees from Smart Commute workplaces drive alone nearly 19.2% less than the average commuter (Transportation Tomorrow Survey, 2016).

Preparing and Planning for a Safe and Sustainable Return to Work

As communities prepare to return to regular operations in the upcoming months, Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill continues to deliver sustainable transportation themed webinars, develop a Telework Policy Guide for workplaces, and promote sustainable modes of commuting while focusing on precautions that employees should take to protect themselves and the safety of others in their communities.
